Piada Spotlight | Tony Bondi

Meet Tony Bondi – Pittsburgh Catering Sales Manager who has worked for Piada for over 3 years. With more than a decade of experience in the hospitality and restaurant industry, Tony has brought lots of knowledge, passion, and Piada to the city of Pittsburgh!

Tony was born & raised in New Castle, PA, just about an hour outside of Pittsburgh. He first attended college at Youngstown State and quickly made moves to Columbus, where he attended The Ohio State University. With an interest in travel & hospitality, Tony ventured south for Plano, TX, launching his career as a flight attendant! Tony spent 6 years traveling the country for work and fell in love with the history & culture of San Francisco and San Diego— his two favorite cities to visit in-between flights!

Tony took his passion for travel and people back to Columbus in 2001 and began working for a travel agency. While living in Columbus, Tony says his favorite neighborhood to live in was German Village, and he even worked for Lindey’s— a fine dining restaurant part of the Piada family— for a brief time!

After living in Columbus for around 7 years, Tony wanted to move back to Pittsburgh because it has a lot of “that old world charm, and is only an hour from my family”. Between Little Italy and Polish Hill, Tony appreciates the culture, diversity, and food that Pittsburgh has to offer.

Tony joined the Piada team in 2021 and said, “I work for Piada because Piada aligns with my values.” Giving back to his community is important to Tony, and he appreciates the fundraising, donations, and Piada’s involvement in the community. Tony said “We’ve grown so much since I started in June of 2021. Whenever I tell someone I work at Piada, and they say ‘I love that place!, it makes me feel so proud to work here.”

When asked what he loves most about his job, Tony said, “We feel like a family. I love the flexibility of my job.” One event that stuck out to Tony as a favorite of his was when Draft Nation came to Pittsburgh. He said, “The energy was on fire when you walked in.” The event was huge and Tony and his team helped feed 500 people!

When Tony isn’t working, he loves to travel. Next year, Tony is going on his dream trip to Spain, Italy, and the French Riviera. Tony also loves to be outdoors at fairs, and festivals and loves to nap! You might catch Tony listening to Imagine Dragons, Janis Joplin, Queen, and Amy Winehouse.

Tony is also an uncle to two nephews and three nieces and a pet parent to his two dogs and cat. He is very close with his family, talking to them every day, he says, “They are my heart.”

Fun fact about Tony is that he was cast as a bartender in the movie, Love & Other Drugs, where he got to meet celebrities like Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Gad!

At his core, Tony exudes passion and genuine hospitality. We are so lucky to have Tony on the team and appreciate all his hard work in the Pittsburgh market!
